Esther is a Korean born Scottish violinist. She enjoys a busy orchestral career as well as her solo performances. In 2015 she graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama First Class Honours with David Takeno where she was accepted to the LSO String Experience Scheme and worked under Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink, and Michael Tilson Thomas. In the same year she was awarded the Donald Weekes Memorial Prize for the highest final recital mark. In summer 2017 she completed her Masters (1 year intensive) at the Royal Academy of Music with So-Ock Kim with Distinction and awarded Diploma RAM for outstanding Postgraduate recital. From September 2019 she will be pursuing her Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music with Mark Messenger as a Soirée d’Or Scholar.
She plays with the London Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and on trial for Principal/Sub principal First Violin with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, First Violin for Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tutti for London Symphony Orchestra
As a soloist she enjoys playing lunchtime concerts around London and recently lead the Sonore Orchestra accompanying Jack Liebeck. She played Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Brighton Youth Orchestra and during her studies in the US she performed with many orchestras such as Culver City Symphony, Palisades Symphony, Crossroads Chamber Orchestra and more. At the age of nine she was a prize winner for the Kocian International Violin Competition and a finalist for the George Enescu International Violin Competition. Esther has also attended masterclasses with notable musicians such as Sarah Chang, Pierre Amoyal, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Massimo Quarta, Ingolf Turban, and Masao Kawasaki.
